Janet Chapman takes us back to Spellbound Falls! Honestly, I love this series where magic abounds and yet the true magic is always about the magic of the heart. Sometimes sweet, sometimes silly but always an enjoyable read.

For the Love of Magic tells the story or Rana and Titus.. Not their original story, although we do get to see glimpses of that. But rather the story of two people who have loved dearly for decades and yet still manage to mess things up.

Confusion, lack of communication and honestly true love separates the two when Rana moves out. She buys a lovely beach side cabin (read shack) on Max and Olivia's land (Max being her son, Olivia her daughter in law) and begins an interesting process of finding herself and protecting Titus. All the while driving poor Titus up a wall. No one moves out on a man and then calls him My Love..

Titus Oceanus, creator and protector of the Trees of Knowledge, the god of Atlantis, father of two, Grandfather of three (and one on the way) but most importantly husband of Rana.. A god bent on serving mankind, not destroying it or playing with it. He even fought the other gods in order to do so. And yet here is alone.. his adored wife has left him and the poor man hasn't got a clue as to why.

This was a fun book.. watching everyone give Titus advice and offering Rana support was just well fun. You have to feel for a guy who has no clue as to why his wife left and has the patience (sort of) to listen to all the well meaning advice, without blowing anyone up.

The negatives on this book was well it was more of a reunion book. We see all these lovely favorite characters and what they are doing. And those we don't see, we hear about.. Titus and Rana's story is fun and cute and wonderful in the fact that love lasts forever.. but the entire plot was a bit contrived. I honestly felt like it was tossed in there in order to introduce us to the next set of characters.. and believe me I think there is some interesting stuff going to happen soon.

Two new delectable heroes were introduced.. and one lovely female. Not sure who the next book is going to be about but I know I will be waiting to find out.

While this was not my favorite book of Ms Chapman's I still enjoyed it for what it was.. a wonderful, fun book!

I don't write reviews as I get tongue tied when I try to write how I feel when a book is over. I have read every book written by Ms. Chapman and this one made me feel sad and lacking a story. I thought this was going to be one of the best, after all it's about Titus and Rana. I did enjoy hearing how he met her and courted her and how she became his queen, but this book has so many unanswered questions. I feel this was just a short story leading into her new characters for future books. Disappointing is all I can say about how I feel now that the book has been read. I was so looking forward to revisiting old friends from past books, but that did not happen. I hope future books bring back some of the magic that made me fall in love with ALL of the characters .

Ok, with that said , it was a very sweet love story, but that's all it was. Do not look for excitement or friends getting together from past books. I hope Ms. Chapman will come out with a new book soon and continue where this left off so I can have some closure ( yes, I do have an imagination) . Maybe I just like a series to be wrapped up a little nicer then this short story.
This is one of my favorite spellbound falls books. Without giving anything away...the humor with which she approaches the different factions of people is absurd and ridiculously funny. I love Titus and Rana and their banter. A love story that delves into a couple that have lived a lifetime together and are real. They have flaws and quirks and are stubborn and flirt and love.
I adore Janet Chapman's books and have been reading this series for a long time. This story line has really evolved and grown into something I take comfort in. When I want to read a light-hearted book with some well-developed characters, this is where I go. Her earlier Highlander books were emotionally heavier than the spin-off series', but really give the rest of these books some foundation. I was surprised to see that she wrote a book about Titus and Rana, as I thought that they were both immortal and were living their dream. Slight SPOILERS ahead...

When Titus makes some serious decisions about his and Rana's future (and some other HUGE decisions that affect his whole family) without even talking to Rana first... that bothered me. That Rana, after 40 years of marriage to Titus, leaves her loving husband (hurting him in the process) for such trivial reasons (control freak much?), I lost some respect for her character.

In saying that, I still enjoyed the book. A lot of really interesting things happened and some questions were answered about the origins of Titus and
Rana, Max and Olivia, the couples from the previous books, and the other gods. This just had a bittersweet tone to it and made me a little sad for Titus and Rana's future.
I have to admit that I have all of Janet Chapman's books and have read them all at least twice (if not more). If you love reading Romance and paranormal than she is the author for you. I love her books and the latest is like visiting old friends. I loved the story of how Titus and Rana restored their marriage after 40 years (give or take several thousand - as Rana would say). We got a bit of history of how they met and how they fell in love. You could read it as a stand a lone book, but it might confuse you when they bring up and have characters from previous stories invovled in the current story line. It might be best if you read the entire series in that regard. I read the book in about a day - I didn't want to put the book down, but I was sad that the book ended. I may have to pull out my old books and read through them all again. I hope you enjoy the book - I did!
